BEREAN
Worship Project

Worship is important because we worship a holy God. Jesus said in Luke 19:40 , "I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out."

Creation declares the glory of God, so should we.

How we worship:

In John 4:24 we see Jesus say that "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." Jesus gave in that one sentence, as He talked to the woman at the well, the framework that we must abide by in our worship.

SPIRIT

TRUTH

&

SPIRIT

The word "spirit" used in this passage is the word "pneuma."* This addresses two aspects in one: your spirit and the Holy Spirit.

Worship is a spiritual act originating from your spirit, it's an internal action, not an external walking through motions, but also communicating to the Father through the Holy Spirit.

It is by the blood of Christ that we are able to enter into the presence of God as we are clothed in His righteousness. Our heart must be postured, recognizing the holiness of the God we serve and the privilege that we have to worship Him in His presence.

TRUTH

What we sing in our worship songs, must be true to Biblical Doctrine. Rev. 22:18-19 and Deut. 4:2 both warn about adding to and subtracting from what God has commanded and written. In the same, as Christians, we cannot afford to take poetic license with the things of the Lord.

Below will be a link to a list of worship songs that have been screened for biblical accuracy. Each song will have notes on what makes it accurate or inaccurate based on how the song reads, not as it may have been "intended" to be taken. The Bible calls us to be Bereans about everything that we hear and listen to, and that is what we intend to do.

This list is not exhaustive, but is constantly growing and being updated as more songs get reviewed and as more songs come out.
